As I reported in one of the posts on my blog, the Lancaster County deed books are available for viewing online. However, there is no index to the book available online. Additionally, the online images don’t appear to be 100% consistent with the offline books—there have been pages that I haven’t been able to locate online.
To make it easier for the Lancaster County researcher, I decided to index the online books. Each index includes the following:
- Image number
- Grantor
- Grantee
- Book, Volume and page number
- Date of deed
- Date recorded
- Notes
Where available, I’ve also included the residence provided in the deed for the grantor and grantee and the location of the land being sold or used as collateral in a mortgage. The notes field may also include the grantor’s occupation and/or the name of the grantor’s spouse. The name of the grantee’s spouse is not provided in the deed record.
