Jack,
thanks for the post. Deacon Adam Hocker was born 11 Sep 1828 in Derry Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania to Rev. John and Christianna (Steirling) Hocker. He died 8 Sep 1907 in Randolph Township, Montgomery County, Ohio and was buried in Fairview Cemetery. Rev. John Hocker was the son of my ancestor Johan Adam and Anna Maria (Hershey) Hocker Jr. of Derry Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. To the best of my knowledge, Adam and Anna (Engle) Hocker had children:

1. Benjamin E. Hocker (23 Jan 1860, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio—24 Jan 1933, Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona) m. Mary Kinsel
2. Elizabeth E. Hocker (19 Nov 1861, Montgomery County, Ohio—19 May 1879, Montgomery County, Ohio)
3. Ellen Hocker (ca 1864, Montgomery County, Ohio—aft 1930) m. Franklin Etter
4. Anna M. Hocker (Jun 1863, Montgomery County, Ohio—bef 1910, Randolph Township, Montgomery County, Ohio) m. Deacon Levi Seth Hoke (1862/63—23 Jul 1930)
5. Catharine "Catie" Hocker (6 Mar 1869, Randolph Township, Montgomery County, Ohio—24 Nov 1952, Randolph Township, Montgomery County, Ohio) m. John D. Betz (12 Jul 1861—15 Oct 1924)

Researching the descendants of Adam Hocker (1828-1907) who married Anna M Engle (1832-1912). Both born in Pennsylvania and moved to Ohio, living in Montgomery County and buried at Fairview Cemetery in Englewood, OH. Would be glad to share information. Jack Akerboom

Shari, I'm glad you're finding the site useful and interesting. I wish I could tell you who Adam Hocker's parents were. Unfortunately, at this time I don't have any information. I'm willing to bet that he's related to my Hacker/Hocker family, but I don't have any evidence to support that view. If I do find more information, I will certainly post it here.

Thank you so much for your extensive research. I've just started digging into the lineage, but thanks to one of my cousins I do have some of the same information (though not as thorough) as what you have posted. I too am a descendant of the famous "Adam and Eve" Hockers via John Hocker and Rebecca Brenner. My great-grandfather was Albert Brenner Hocker, son of John and Rebecca. Albert (or AB as he was called) settled in Elwood, IN which was eventually where I was born. I am finding all of the history simply fascinating and I am so grateful to everyone who has done all of the legwork. Much obliged to you!

My maiden name was Hocker and my family was from Pennsylvania. My brother has done extensive geneology work on our family and I noticed that Kris Hocker on here has a picture of a tombstone of one of my relatives.

David,
I'd be glad to help. Depending on how long your family has been in Kentucky, it's possible that you're connected to a Hocker family that came over earlier than my family and settled first in Virginia. From what I've learned there's a strong association with Kentucky and Texas, I think, for that family.

Send me some information—as far back as you can go—and I'll see if I can make any connections.

Trying to tie my family of Hockers to the PA Hockers. I'll be glad to exchange any info that I have. My dad drove for a Colonel Hocker in WWII in England. I'd like to see if I can tie them together.
