Johan Adam Hocker, son of Johan George and Anna Margaretha (Weidman) Hacker, died suddenly on 4 Feb 1847 at Slate River Mills, Buckingam County, Virginia. How do I know this? Apparently, after his death there was a disagreement in the family over which will was the correct will to be entered into probate.
Johan Adam Hocker, son of Johan George and Maria Margaretha (Weidman) Hacker, was born 19 Dec 1763 in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania and died 4 Feb 1847 in Slate River Mills, Buckingham county, Virginia. He married on 4 Mar 1797 in Germantown, Montgomery county, Pennsylvania Ann Dillet.
Slate River Mills in Buckingham county, Virginia was once the home of Johan Adam and Ann (Dillet) Hocker and their children. Born and raised at Erdenheim, outside Philadelphia, Johan Adam went to Virgina about 1795 to construct mills. He purchased Slate River Mills after his father’s death in 1821.
