Wordless Wednesday: A Young Man

Unidentified boy

The next installment in the Unidentified Pennsylvanians series features a portrait of a young man. He may have lived in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in the early 20th century and been a friend or family member of the Greulich, Wieder, Waage, Snyder, or Witmer families.

Wordless Wednesday: Unknown Pennsylvanians

Starting this week I’m starting a new photo series—Unknown Pennsylvanians. Amongst the photos I inherited from my maternal grandparents were a whole slew of photos of people that no one in the family can identify. Since none of them are labeled with names, I’m going to post them in a gallery here on my website and feature one photo each week. I’m hoping that someone will be able to identify the person(s) in the photo. I guessing that most of the photos were taken in the early 20th century and that they are friends and/or family of my ancestors from the East Greenville/Red Hill area—the Greulichs, Wieders, Snyders, Witmers, and Waages.

Here’s the first photo.

Hocker Hunting Camp, circa 1924

A photo taken at the Hocker hunting camp in Perry County, Pennsylvania circa 1924. I’m not completely certain of the folks in the photo, but I think it’s—Isabella (Smith) Hocker, Lillian (Leedy) Hocker, unknown teenager [possibly Lillian or Ethel Allen], Anna Hocker, William Hocker, Bonnie Hocker and Betty Jean Hocker.

Wordless Wednesday: Wieder Anniversary

Edwin and Mae (Waage) Wieder

Edwin and Mae (Waage) Wieder at 50th Wedding Anniversary

In honor of my great-grandparents wedding anniversary next Tuesday, April 19th…

Edwin J. Wieder, son of Emanuel J. and Alavesta (Dillinger) Wieder, married Mary Catharine “Mae” Waage, daughter of Dr. Charles Theodore and Lydia S. (Eshbach) Waage, on 19 Apr 1905 at Dr. Waage’s home in Pennsburg, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The couple had 55 years together before Edwin’s death on 22 Jan 1960 at age 79. Mae lived another ten years, dieing on 28 Nov 1970 at age 93.

The photo shows them on the 50th wedding anniversary on 19 Apr 1955. Their anniversary was written up in the Town and Country on 20 Apr 1955.
